Sport’s Day – Mum’s race: An iconic image of Diana, combining both success and Monarchy. This oil painting recording the event has been repainted over several years, layering it with ever changing social position. Put the Edge in Privilege: This string on board painting comes from O’Connor’s recent influences of The Great Depression of 1929 and is a quote from the ‘Thin Man’ series of films with William Powell and Myrna Loy. These films were originally intended to provide escapism for moviegoers who wanted to forget their impoverished lives. The patterns and style of the various boards are based on the primitive typography and design often found in those films.
